Ian — Soil, Science & Soul
I want to eat the tastiest, most nutritious food — not just for flavour, but because quality food is the foundation of good health.
I’m a Food Gardening Consultant, born from my own journey. My background in Environmental Science gave me the foundation to understand ecosystems and soil, but my curiosity quickly became personal, when I began growing my own food for fresh heirloom flavours — only to find it harder than I expected. My tomatoes were stunted, my carrots misshapen, and the taste left me wanting!
That frustration became curiosity. My love of food led me to explore landscape ecology, permaculture, plants, insects, soil chemistry, microbiology, medicinal herbs, and plant breeding — all in pursuit of growing better food. Over time, I’ve developed a system that combines the best practices from everything I’ve studied.
I’ve learned to read soil tests, balance minerals, brew biofertilisers, and apply them in tune with seasonal plant needs. I plan regenerative systems that restore soil and ecosystem health, simplify gardening, and grow food that simply thrives.
Combining my Environmental Science background with hands-on experimentation, I guide others to apply these practices to their own gardens, properties, and small farms, bringing flavour, nutrition, and vitality back to the land.

Behind the camera and often behind the scenes, my wife Georgie brings beauty, structure, and creative spirit to our team.
She’s an artist and ecological gardener with a gift for seeing the soul in every landscape. Georgie manages our visual design, admin, and digital systems, keeping our mission on track.
Her passion reminds us that growing food isn’t just about sustenance — it’s about relationships, reverence, and connection. Her creative insight ensures the solutions we deliver are practical, beautiful, and tailored to your land.
